Habeas Corpus:
You think about it, don’t you?
Or At least
I do
If life’s to short…
Why do we even bother?
Why do we always think everything through?
You wonder about it don’t you?
I always do
Do people actually think of me?
Of things that I’ve done
Or are they to busy…
Living
Is that why they are so good at being young?
I’m not
I’ve always been old
Or that’s what I’ve said
Or always been told.
I often wonder about the things I’ve done
The jokes I’ve told,
The songs I’ve sung.
I’ve often decided
I’ve never been young
Always tight with my wallet
Loose with my tongue
Do you think of me from time to time?
I know I do…
And I always wonder…
Is there anything left?
Or did you chuck it all out?
Leaving me bereft…
It always comes back to me
These things I’ve done
And if you can live without regret
You know you’ve won
So here’s my conclusion
It’s brief but full:
Laugh
Love
Live
Have no regrets, not even one!
And one last thing that may be hard to digest…
One thing’s for sure
He whose lust lasts, lasts longest.
